Can anyone tell me how to grow strawberry plant?
Every gardener I know says strawberries are far easier to grow as transplants than from seeds. I’m growing three plants now. Any garden center should have some ready to plant. A few tips on selecting the right plant: Make sure the leaves are well-developed and dark green. Resist the temptation to buy plants with strawberries already on them as this will not result in a healthy transplant. Massage the roots and give them plants wet feet after transplanting (place them about 10 inches apart or more) and pluck off any flowers that sprout in the next month or so as this will encourage the development of the plant itself — particularly the roots. After about a month, mulch around the plants so that when the berries form, they will not touch damp soil and rot away. Most people say the first crop will be puny, but in about a year you should be harvesting some nice berries. Don’t pluck them until they are almost completely red as the berries don’t ripen off the plant. They will keep in your f
