Can anyone tell me celt/native american marriage customs?
Cherokee wedding customs – man comes with blue blanket around shoulders carrying a gift of meat for his bride. He is accompanied by several male members of his clan. Woman comes out dressed in her best regalia – also with blue blanket around her shoulders. She is carrying a basket of corn for her new husband. The meat shows that the man will always provide for the woman and their family; the basket of corn shows that she will always support her man and her family as well as cook and provide for them. She is accompanied by her mother, grandmother, uncle, and a few female friends who have helped her get ready. After the ceremony; the blue blankets are removed and a white blanket is put on to cover both showing that the two are now one. Then after the ceremony there will be feasting, dancing, and music for hours – sometimes even days.
