Can anyone tell me anything about harp strings?

Well here is a thought….. As a harpist, the scariest thing for me is when a string in the upper register (which can be either nylon or gut) pops near my face. I always feel like I am going to lose an eye! Also, at night time (BTW my harp is close to my bed) when one of the metal strings in the contra/ great octave breaks it sounds like a gun shot! Which is not fun to wake up to! (It’s also makes a rather creepy noise right before a string pops, because you can hear it unwinding/ stretching.) Another idea you can use for your book is that a harp technician could “accidentally” string the harp to the highest tension-in aims for the soundboard to explode and/or al l the strings to pop simultaneously. If those don’t work for you, someone can simply get a nylon string and strangle the person in the book.

What is your question?
