the name monsoon originated from an arabic word mawsim which means season. india indeed has a typical tropical monsoon type of climate actually this climatic belt lies between 10 to 25 degress north and south of equator but in case of india and pakistan its up to 30 degrees. A monsoon is a seasonal prevailing wind which lasts for several months. The term was first used in English in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and neighboring countries to refer to the big seasonal winds blowing from the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea in the southwest bringing heavy rainfall to the region. this is all i know if yiou talk about interesting facts……but if you want more then i have a link which provides a typical information about the history of monsoons……..hope that helps…
