Can anyone take a polygraph test at the local sheriffs office?

Not likely at the local sheriff’s office. There are private polygraph people. You can find them on the web. But regardless of availability, a polygraph is not worth much. It has been shown that people who tell the truth sometimes register as lying. And people who lie (especially psychopaths, sociopaths and people without a conscience) show up as totally honest. That’s why they are never permitted in Court as evidence of guilt or innocence. The best thing you can do is explain (only once please) that you and your family members have not taken their dog. End of story! It sounds like these people will never believe you no matter what you say or do. You’ll be wasting your time and money to pursue it further.
