Our kids get special Christmas ornaments every year in their stocking. Halmark has a set for their first 5 Christmas’ and then after that we start buying ones that show something that they are into that year (like soccer for my son or ballet for my girls) or for a special trip we went on during the year (they all got wooden dinosaur ornaments from the Smithsonian last year since we went there last summer). By the time they are grown up, they’ll probably have enough to decorate their own trees. 🙂 My MIL starts giving them all Advent boxes at about age 2 with a small gift every day leading up to Christmas. Candy, socks, small toys, crayons, ornaments, new gloves, hat, Dollar store stuff, puzzles, coloring books, etc. The person below me mentioned a handprint in clay. You can make salt dough ornaments for the tree and put his hand and footprints in them.

Hi i would just like to share some valuable information with you….you are a man i assume and have never carried or had a 9lb baby like i did so please do not go browsing through the pregnancy and postnatal questions answering them with condescending remarks like “you should have looked after yourself better in pregnancy”. For your information I am the perfect weight for my height and have a bit of a belly due to having given birth to a big baby 6 months ago so if you have nothing helpful to suggest I suggest you stick to questions on car insurance and christmas. God help your wife with remarks like that she probably starved herself for your approval.

I think that a tree bauble with baby’s first Christmas written on it and the year is a great idea you can get it out every year. My girls both have Christmas tree baubles to put on the tree every year he might not appreciate it this Christmas but he will in years to come. If you wanted to get him something to appreciate this year at 7 months he wouldn’t be without a door bouncer it will add a little excitement to his day. The most enjoyable thing i think for baby’s at Christmas is the lights on the tree they know its a special time of year from that and they get hours of enjoyment just staring, my two used to fall asleep watching the tree lights.
