Can anyone suggest some other jobs for a singing teacher?
Us voice teachers have to be entrepreneurs. We have to “create” an arena for ourselves. Especially if we are in a small community, and the music stores want to pay you 2 dollars a lesson. Ok I am exaggerating, but in some areas it is just not a great area for voice teachers. Here are some things to consider if this is you. Do private lessons in your home. If you can play a little piano, do private piano as well. A voice teacher really should have a piano or decent keyboard in their home. Hopefully you do have one. Also, consider doing some classes for small children teaching music in daycares or homeschoolers. Of course, seek church jobs in your area. If they don’t offer any money, walk. We had to earn our degree just like everyone else. Some churches you can work with, but you can’t work for free.
