I’m not a chat room person either, but I know of a great websiste for science fiction & fantasy writers. Lots of discussion goes on in there and there are some fab stories for you to read, by very talented writers. All in the genres you love.

I’d rather not do anything with chat rooms; too many “lurkers” and such filth. What you should do is join/start a group/club of fantasy/scifi/horror readers and writers. Read stories, review and discuss them, do it all again, and with people you’ll get to know.
