Can anyone suggest a good gothic rock band?
Hmm. 80s Goth/Post Punk: True Gothic Rock. Most Purist/True Goths listen to this as they smoke their cloves. This is what most true goths listen to, but not listening to it doesn’t make you a “poser”. When it comes to being Goth, there are no “posers”. *UK Decay (the ones who started it all) *Bauhaus [the most popular; listen to “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” (undead, undead, undead…)] *Fields of the Nephilim (listen to “Moonchild”, buy a trenchcoat) *Siouxie and the Banshees (who are more on the Post-punk side than the goth side) *Sisters of Mercy *Christian Death (a little less subtle than their fellow artists, but still great) *The Cure (the most famous goth rock band; they also play 80s pop music) *Southern Death Cult/Death Cult/The Cult (My favorite band. I can’t believe no one’s named them yet. Technically, they aren’t actually the same band, but the evolution from SDC to The Cult, with Ian Astbury as the constant member) Gothic Metal: Tristania, Nightwish, (some) Cradle of Filth Nu-Goth
