x=1 Step by step process to solving the equation: First distribute the -3 to both x and -4 making your problem now look like: 6x – 2 – 3x + 12 = 13 Then subtract twelve from both sides, getting rid of 12 on the left and combineing whole numbers on the right. Making your equation now look like: 6x-2-3x=1 Then you combine like terms. Meaning you subtract 3x from 6x. Leaving you 3x. Making your equation: 3x-2=1 Add two to both sides. 3x=3 Divide both sides by three to get X by itself and you are left with x=1 To make sure you have the right answer you can subsitute in your value of X. 6(1)-2-3(1-4)=13 6-2-3+12=13 1+12=13 13=13 Thats how you solve for X.
