Can anyone recommend a strong mouth rinse for bad gum disease without stain the teeth?
A mouthwash will not cure periodontal disease. A mouthwash is used to supplement periodontal therapy by your dental hygienist and periodontist. If you are using a chlorahexadine rinse ,you are using a very good rinse but it does stain your teeth, excellent oral hygiene at home will minimize this effect. A company called Maxill also makes a rinse called PerioX which does not cause stain, but is effective. An example of a antibacterial rinse without alcohol is Maxill Step 4; to use after brush/floss and whatever other hygiene aids your dental professional recommended. The battle against periodontal disease is not an easy one and requires constant effort. You may want to discuss with your dental health professional, treatments other than a mouthwash which will also help in the fight against periodontal disease. There is nothing you can buy at the drugstore that is more effective, you will have to get it from your dentist.
