The art of making armour : a craftsman’s guide to creating authentic armour reproductions by Rob Valentine. (Baltimore, Md. : American Literary Press, c2000.) ISBN 156167527X. Used copies at bookfinder.com for under $15.00. I have not had this book in my hands, so I cannot vouch for its quality, but it was the only thing in the Library of Congress catalog. It’s only 90 pages long, so it might be a bit thin. I hope you already have some smithing skills. There are people spread out all over the US that make armor on a daily basis. Contact the closest branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism and ask them to put you in touch with local armorers. Many of the armors I’ve met are happy to share their expertise with newcomers.
