Can anyone reccomend good campgrounds in the Yukon?
Any of the government run campgrounds along the Alaska Highway suitable. Between Watson Lake and Whitehorse there’s not a whole lot, it’s only four and a half hours, so you might as well just go to Whitehorse. There you can stay a 15 minute walk from downtown in Robert Service Campground on the shores of the Yukon River in a wilderness setting, and see the sites, or head out of Town North west along the Alaska Hwy to Kusuwa Lake (24Km off hwy) but beautiful. Or go straight through to Haines Junction. I would check this government site out and download the map http://www.environmentyukon.gov.yk.ca/parks/campgrounds.html It shows all the government campgrounds in the Yukon. Unfortunately there are not a lot of campgrounds along the Alaska hwy, and most good ones that us locals keep to our selves are off the main highways.
