Can anyone reccomend a Nikon lens for low light indoor sports photography?
Lenses for low light work have wide apertures and lots of glass – which makes them expensive, though second hand may be an option. You really have no choice about this if you want decent results, wider lenses tend to be cheaper than longer ones, so I’d work out what you’ll need in terms of focal length to get your images in the bag – make a choice accordingly. Look for f2.8 or so on a zoom if possible… across the range. A fixed focal length lens will be much cheaper but less flexible, in which case you could be looking at f1.6 or f1.2 – great quality!
