Can anyone plz brief me about the various christian denominations in Kerala?
I am a Muslim from Kottayam, Kerala. So I have some limitations to answer this question. Yet I will share with you as far as I know from my friends. 1. Marthomites are a Syrian Christian community. They are found in Thiruvalla area. Many of them are of medium complexion. They are financially sound community. They can marry with other Syrian Christians. But nowadays their many sheeps are being “stolen”. Maramon convention is conducted by them. 2. Jacobites are another Syrian Christian community. Their main enemies are Orthodox denomination. They are found in Kottayam, Piravam, Perumbavoor etc. Their fathers don’t wear black cap. They accept the leadership of Patriorch of Antioch (Syria). 3. Pentecostal/Born Again. There are many groups among them especially in Pathanamthitta Dt. Prominent among them is IPC. They are very hard believers. Some of its opponents call it Russel religion due to the name of its founder. Their women don’t use ornaments. 4. Orthodox are another Syrian Christian
