Can anyone name the people who applied for the Richmond coaching job?
Not sure exactly who applied. Im sure many would have put their hands up for the job. I have to say I am surprised that the club showed little interest in taking up Sheedy’s offer to coach. Mystifies me why they wouldn’t want to take advantage of all that experience that he could bring even if he took the job on for a year or two. The man has the runs on the board and has shown that he has a great eye when it comes to recruitment. Richmond could certainly benefit from that one aspect alone as it could be valuable to set up a good basis for coming years. I still shake my head that Melbourne opted for Bailey when Sheedy was in the offing….look what its done for them. I think its also a fair point that not always brilliant players equate to brilliant coaches so they need to understand that some untried past players who stood out may not necessarily be the answer as a coach. As long as they come up with someone who can make the club more competitive longterm then they will do okay I thin
