Can anyone name any brands that have got famous for something using PR alone?
Famous seems like a slippery term in this context. But companies finding success and rapid growth through PR happen all the time. Here’s an article about the classic success scenario — the PR-based lucky break. (The articles not great, but the story is pretty good.) However, once these initial successes happen I think most companies that grow into major brands invest other forms of marketing and brand building.
