Can anyone make a living off webcomics?
Theoretically, yes. However, it’s not easy. I waited until I had an audience over 100,000 before even trying. I know people who’ve done it with less but I didn’t risk it. The thing you have to remember is that less than a percent of your audience will ever donate, and just a little more than that buy merchandise. It’s hard and can be very sink or swim. I don’t recomment quitting your day job and starting a webcomic the next day. If you’re going to try this, start a webcomic with a business plan as a side project. Work on it for a year or two and see if it’s something you like and can keep doing and monitor the stats. Put some merchandise out to test the waters.
