Can anyone help me with the results/impact of imperialism for the United States in the 19th Century?
America wasn’t really into the Empire game in the 19th Century. Its main impact on America has to do with its reactions to the Imperial designs of other countries. This has mainly to do with Spain. Spain was interfering with lands and islands south of the U.S. and Cuba in particular. America was still growing, and had its own problems. At the beginning of the !9th Century, through the Munroe Doctrine and the selfish idea of “Manifest Destiny”, Americans deluded themselves to believe that All of America was destined to be controlled by them. This flies against the fact that most of the English speaking people of what was later to become Canada, were there specifically because they didn’t want to be American. Neither did the Quebecois. They soon learned how determined the early Canadians were, to keep their independence, at Queenston Heights and Chateauguay.
