By far, the easiest database program is Microsoft Access. The only problem with Access is that it doesn’t work well after you have more than 50 users accessing data at the same time. It also indexes data very poorly and will grow in file size much faster than some of the newer databases. If you’re just learning, access is a good place to start. Access has simple “wizards” that help you get started very quickly. There are also simple tools that help you manage your database through access. One of the drawbacks is the price (other opensource products are free) You have to buy Access from Microsoft. They’re also trying to phase it out with “Microsoft SQL Server Express” (which you can download for free at: http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/default.aspx).
