Without knowing what you intend it’s a little difficult to be specific.Repairs are done to stone that’s been cut back enough to permit two coat of what’s basically render,5:1 mix with cement powder dye added,E.G. 5 sand 1 white cement and a proportion of buff powder dye will give a good sandstone colour when hardened, the surface finish is achieved by a final rub down with a wooden float or hard sponge,I’ve even used a piece of expanded polystyrene to rub the render into an almost perfect facsimile of the surrounding stone. The standard colours of dye I most commonly use are buff, red, brown and lamp black.these mixed with various proportions of white or grey cement give most common colours and hues.but still not easy to get right,it takes a lot of experience. If you want a more detailed answer I’d have to know the specifics of the project.Hope this helps.
