Joseph Cornell was a very famous artist who made boxes full of nostalgic items – found objects, paper ephemera, shells, butterflies. I will try to find you a link. Kitagawa Utamara is also a very famous artist – Japanese wood block printer – see the link for his beautiful book ‘Songs of the Garden’, which is filled with delicate drawings of insects and flowers. The two (probably most famous of all) Japanese wood block artists, Hiroshige and Hokusai, both did many insect studies (you can get books on these artists from public library).
