Nickel-titanium alloys, called “Nitinol” are the most widly known smart alloys. Smart Alloys are metals that “remember” their original shapes and are better know as “shape memory alloys.” One product made for smart alloy are eyeglass frames. Smart alloy is suited for this purpose because it can be bent totally out of shape and return to its starting shape. All that is required to get back to the orgianl shape of the eyeflass frame is a little warming of the material.
