Can anyone give me information regarding hydro power and hydro electric generator?
There are different types of hydro-electric generators. One type uses a large turbine that doesn’t require a large head but a lot of water flow. The water flows through the turbine and turns it because the water is diverted by the turbine. This is a Francis type of turbine. A generator is connected to the turbine and produces electricity. Other types use a high head, pressure, to turn a wheel which is shaped like a series of cups on spokes and the impact of the water turns the wheel that the cups are attached to. This also turns a generator which produces electricity. This is called a Pelton wheel type of turbine and does not require as much water as the energy of the water at higher pressure provides the power.
