Can anyone give me ideas to make healthy/quick meals?
There are a couple of things you can do. I know of some people that cook one day a week. You make several things and then pack them into freezable reusable plastic containers. Spaghetti, stews, and chili will keep for six months as will many others. You can divide it up after it cools, pack some in the fridge for use in a day or five and some in the freezer to use later on in the week or next week, that way you don’t get bored with one meal for ten days. Another great food to use I found is TVP. It’s a vegetarian thing but I found a sloppy joe type thing that can literally be done in less than ten minutes. High in fiber and low fat, my daughter and I inhale them. TVP can be bought at health food and most bulk areas of the supermarket. I use it in spaghetti and chili. It’s a soybean based product and good for you. Here is one of my very favorite easy chicken recipes. This was one of the first things I learned to make, way back in university when I didn’t know how to cook at all. I ate it a lot! We still eat it a lot, because it’s a family favorite and a quick meal. This one actually has too much butter to be called a really “healthy meal”, but I include it here anyway for sentimental reasons! You could use olive oil instead of butter to make it a bit healthier. Either way, don’t eat this one every day; save it for a special treat. Preheat oven to 350F/175C. 2/3 cup/150mL butter, melted 1 cup/250 mL liquid honey 1/2 cup/125 mL prepared mustard 2 Tbsp/30 mL curry powder 2 lb/1 kg chicken pieces, skinless Combine first four ingredients in a baking dish. Place chicken in the pan, meaty side down. Bake 50-60 minutes, covered, until no longer pink inside. _—————–_——————-… White Bean Chicken Chili If you are looking for a hearty warm meal for a cold wintery day, try this deliciou
