Can anyone give me anymore information on GTP teacher training?
the GTP is intended for graduates who already have extensive experience of working with children in an educational setting, for example teaching assistants or youth workers you are employed as an unqualified teacher in a school at the same time as undergoing a planned training programme delivered jointly by the school and a training provider such as a university the advantages are that you are paid about 14k and you spend mosty of your time in school the disadvantages are it is a very heavy workload (but so is teaching and GTPs tend to find the NQT year less of a shock than PGCEs or BEds), your have to be very self controlled on the professional development side because a lot of it is up to you, and competition for places is very strong (we had 160 applicants for our 22 funded places this year, we could have taken at least 50 of these so 28 good candidates were unsuccessful) all info starts at
