Can anyone fully explain the CPSIA Law regarding Lead Testing in Infant/Childrens Textile Items?
This law will affect the following types of businesses: 1.If you are a small or home-based business that manufactures apparel or other textile products for children under 12 years of age, this legislation impacts you, or 2. Whether you sell your products wholesale or directly to the consumer through eBay, Etsy, or your own web site Unfortunately, the ramifications are much higher as it will spill over to the retail industry as well. Companies, both large and small, will not be able to sell these products in their stores unless the vendors they order from can prove certification. There is a lot of confusion out there as to exactly which companies this will affect, so I’m worried as a retailer that many of our smaller, locally owned vendors will either not understand they have to have their products tested or if they do realize it, the massive costs associated with doing so will drive these businesses into the ground.
