woah, never thought about the 12th amendment >.< lemme go look it up Ok so the 12th amendment set up the VP system. Before this amendment, if McCain won the election, Obama would be VP. The 12th amendment forced congress to cast 2 distinct votes, on for President, one for VP. To explain better: If there were people running for the presidency, the person who recieved the most electoral college votes would be president, and the person with the second most would be the VP.
