Can anyone explain perimeter, area, surface area and volume?

Perimeter and area are for 2D shapes. Surface area and volume are for 3D shapes. Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a 2D shape, so for a square you would need to measure along the top, both sides and the bottom. If the square was 2cm by 2cm then the perimeter would be 2+2+2+2 = 8cm. Area is the space inside a 2D shape. You work it out (in 4-sided shapes) by multiplying the height by the width, so in a rectangle 3cm by 4cm the area would be 3×4 = 12cm². Surface area is all the areas of the faces of a 3D shape added together. So if a 3D shape has 6 faces (like a cube) then you’ll need to find the area of each face then add them together. So a cube which is 2cm by 2cm by 2cm would be (2×2)+(2×2)+(2×2)+(2×2)+(2×2)+(2×2) = 24cm². Volume is the space inside a 3D shape. It’s like area only it involves height, width AND depth. For simple questions you’ll need to find the volume of a box, so you need to multiply the height by the width by the depth. For the 2cm by 2cm by 2cm cube i

Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a shape, area is figured out by length x width it is the number of square units a space takes up, surface area is the area of all the faces of a 3-d shape added together, volume is the capacity of an object its formula is length x width x height.
