Can anyone else completely understand how breastfeeding in public makes people uncomfortable?

I am afraid that breastfeeding in public makes most people feel uncomfortable. It is a very new phenomenon and totally unnecessary. There are certain things that we do in public and others that we do in private. Until recently breast-feeding was one of the latter and it seems to me that it is a sort of challenging behaviour aimed at making people uncomfortable so that the woman can say that there is nothing wrong with it. There is of course nothing wrong with it, any more than there is anything wrong with using a toilet, but it is something to be done at home. To be honest, if I took my roast dinner and bottle of wine and sat on a park bench eating it that would also be considered unusual because we normally have our dinner at home – so should babies. Conditioned by my parents’ attitudes? I am 60 in December!! And the topless bit on the beach is fine because the women are showing them off. As I said, it is a very new thing in the UK and to most people embarrassing and unnecessary. Can
