Can anyone cut through Nikki and Victors doublespeak about Neil?
While I like the idea of a racially blind world, I still read every ambiguous remark that Nikki, Victor, Olivia, and others say as if they’re really using code phrases to disapprove of a mixed relationship. That’s just the way the world is. So until someone comes out and says they either like or don’t like or accept or don’t accept the racial component, I’m going to assume they are trying to telegraph that info secretly. And it drives me crazy. So in this story, Nick is right when he guesses that Neil has quit so we could see people stripped of their ability to be ambiguous about his relationship with Vikki. Too bad for Neil that I also chose this episode to have his relationship with Vikki fail. I didn’t do that because I disapprove of the racial thing, though. I did it because it worked out better for this story to go that way–and, ok, also because I just think Neil and Vikki have no chemistry together. Sadly, I think I’ll have a hard time seeing Neil with anyone until he confronts
