Can anyone attend a committee meeting? Who is allowed to vote at committee meetings?

• Answer: The pastor-parish relations committee is the only committee that is required to be closed. The 2004 Book of Discipline says in ¶ 259.2 e), “The committee shall meet in closed session, and information shared in the committee shall be confidential.” The Book of Discipline only references voting in regards to the church council. ¶ 252.6 says, “The members present and voting at any duly announced meeting shall constitute a quorum.” From The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church — 2004.
