Best suggestion I can think of is: a> build your own – purchase an OEM Bare Disk with Full length warranty – purchase an empty enclosure – – multi-interface are best; USB / FireWire 400 or 800; USB / E-SATA; this way you get to select the HDD you install in the enclosure and you get to select the enclosure also and know what’s in it. I’ve taken apart many pre-built enclosures and found garbage disks installed and sometimes good disks installed also so it’s a crap-shoot when purchasing a pre-built enclosure as you don’t really know what HDD is “enclosed” without taking it apart and taking it apart usually results in voiding the warranty. and when building your own you can open it up anytime without fear of voiding the warranty..
