Can anybody suggest how to remove Emulsion paint from Natural stone??
This is very dependant on the type/quality of emulsion and the porosity of the stone work ,as a painter& decorator for 40 years I would suggest you try the following before resorting to sand blasting or high pressure wasing as both can seriously damage the stone in inexpierianced hands. Boil a kettle of water and slowly and carefully pour over the painted surface, ensuring that the surface is thouroghly covered and kept hot ,this should soften the paint film for a short time allowing manual removal by scraping & brushing with a stiff nail or scrub brush ,heat surface with the hot water at regular intervals and continue scrubbing until the residues are removed, when dry it may be possible to lightly sand the face of the stone with various grit papers to acheive a reasonable overall finish, albeit lighter than the surrounding areas.Hope this will help,if not, it is possible to paint the defaced area with a suitable colour matched masonry paint lightly stippled on to face ,colour can usual
