Can anybody receive a Dental Implant?
No. In certain cases a dental implant is not possible. For example, the following people can not receive a dental implant. – Developing children – People with serious cardiac conditions – People with high blood pressure – People with bone disease – People with drug or alcohol addiction Patients with diabetes may receive a dental implant if their blood sugar is well adjusted and controlled to a greater extent during treatment periods. In this case, close contact is needed with the family doctor. As with natural teeth, thorough dental and oral care is very important in order to keep the dental implant for a long time. Unsatisfactory dental and oral care may sooner or later result in loss of the implant. Therefore, if the patient’s dental care is poor the dentist cannot suggest a dental implant.
