Can anybody please halp me find a quote in jekyll and hyde about hydes education?
To look for quotations, I downloaded the novel from Gutenberg (see below). It is doubtful if my page numbers will correspond with yours, but they should be close enough for you to find the paragraphs in question. Working backwards, on page 71 of my text, “DR. LANYON’S NARRATIVE” refers to Dr. Jekyll as ‘my colleague and old school-companion.’ On page 14, when Dr. Lanyon is speaking with Mr. Utterson, we are told that they were ‘old friends, old mates at school and college.’ During their conversation, Mr. Utterson says, “I suppose, Lanyon, you and I must be the two oldest friends that Henry Jekyll has.” It is clear that all three were at ‘school’ together, and I think it probable that includes the university (‘college’). So Dr. Jekyll is college-educated as we would infer in any case from his professional status. As Jekyll’s alter ego, Hyde’s education is the same as Jekyll’s, so he is competent to perform the same experiments. Utterson refers to Hyde as Jekll’s protegĂ©, so it would be
