Can any1 with multiple sclerosis tell me what the first signs or symptoms are ?.?
Lesley, I have multiple sclerosis. There are many symptoms of MS. However there are no classic first symptoms of MS. MS manifests itself differently in all of us who have it. About 50% of people who get MS start out with optic neuritis. For the rest it can be lack of balance, tingling, numbness, pain somewhere in the body, bowel problems, memory problems, cogntive problems, slurred speech, sleeping excessively or just fatigue, urinary problems and the list goes on. No two people get all the symptoms of MS or get them in the same intensity. It is not uncommon for people to experience symptoms for years or even a decade before they are finally diagnosed. The symptoms will come and go which is typical of MS in the beginning because MS generally starts out in its relapsing/remittimg form. So the fact that your symptoms have gone away means nothing.
