Can any1 help me w/ some questions I have about the autobiography of MALCOLM X?
Biographers may interview their subjects, and autobiographers may employ writers, but The Autobiography of Malcolm X may be misnamed. Its subject was unable to review the final draft, and Alex Haley may have projected his own opinions onto the late Malcolm X. Malcolm X advocated a Black-supremacist state on territory taken from the United States of America. Malcolm X openly endorsed violence as a means for Blacks to triumph over Whites. Other U.S. “civil rights leaders” preferred to call their typically provocative tactics “nonviolence.” By the end of the book titled The Autobiography of Malcolm X, its subject had converted to Sunni Islam and rejected the racist ideology that had brought him to prominence. The legacy of Malcolm X has been accelerated integration of races in the United States under the threat of violence when Blacks have felt slighted. Actual racially-motivated hatred and violence in America are also part of the legacy of Malcolm X. Malcolm X Little is a tragic figure.
