Can any one describe slavery in New England or the middle Colonies?

Slavery in New England remained pretty much indentured servitude, and did not become the hereditarty institution it would become in the rest of the colonies. In Pennsylvania slavery was the same as in the lower states until it was repealed. In fact, Ben Franklin was a slave owner until he died, and he gave provisional freedom in his will to one of his slaves: his son had to choose between the slave and something else.
