Can any of you christians prove that Seamus the Leprechaun doesn exist?
Does Seamus do or say anything? Christians do not believe in a little man hidden in a basement. They believe in a God who has acted and spoken throughout history. We inform our belief in God based on reports of miracles, fulfilled prophecy, universal wonderment at the creation, personal experience, the practical outworking of our faith, answered prayer, and of course, the person and work of Jesus Christ. It is a cumulative case for faith that, yes, you’re right, cannot be ultimately proven or disproven. If our God was a silent little invisible man living in a basement, then yes, it would be irrational for Christians to demand that atheist disprove him. But that’s not our picture of God. You’ll notice that Christians rarely (or shouldn’t at least) ask atheists to prove that God is not there, for as you point out, that is impossible. However, we often ask atheists to consider whether or not the things above point to the Creator and provide a basis for faith. It’s not quite the same thing
