Can any company oblige me to give them specific information in exchange for services?
In simplest terms, this is coercion. Everyone has the right to disclose or not personal information, especially those that are too sensitive to be simply divulged. I am currently applying for a new job and they require me to provide my driver’s license and social security numbers. I am aware of the increasing frequency of identity theft and I do not want to disclose this information until I am formally accepted into the company. How can I handle this situation with grace and without seeming offensive to the company? For this question, we asked several human resource personnel to answer the question.
