Can any bi-lingual speaking person be a Spanish Translator?
Not necessarily. A good Spanish Translator has to have a great knowledge of both languages. This person must be able to avoid common translation mistakes and this requires more than just being able to communicate in both languages. Also, depending on the purpose of the message, the translator must have thorough knowledge of diverse forms of communication in both languages, like common advertising phrases, legal lingo, technical jargon or other. Spanish has a different phrase composition than English even though sometimes literal translation is understood, it is not necessarily in the best form and it can sound odd to the native speaker, taking away from the focus of the message.
