Answer Dear Samantha – Although animals cannot read clocks and tell time in the way that humans do, many (if not most) have a type of time sense (see http://www.earlbakken.com/text.phtml?m=114 and http://cal.man.ac.uk/student_projects/1999/sanders/clocka.htm). One way of testing this is to provide food at a set time. After a brief conditioning period, the animal(s) will return to the feeding site at the set time, even if no food is present.
