Can animals get down syndrome?

0

The chromosomes that cause downs syndrome only exist in humans. However if an animal did get downs syndrome, it would likely not survive as they have to fend for themselves, find food, warmth etc therefore it would not be given the chance to produce offspring and cannot progress through another generation, the only reason humans with downs survive is because they have other humans who care for them. Hope this helps!
