Can an osteopath be registered by virtue of his or her years of experience alone or current membership of an osteopathic organisation?
No, because the Registrar has to be satisfied that the osteopath is practising legally, safely and competently. Practice and experience alone may be insufficient to provide the necessary reassurance and so we have developed an approach in common use by other health care, regulatory and professional bodies in which the application documents include a series of questions about the individual’s everyday practice as an osteopath.
