Can an organisation refuse to provide a service to an individual who is overtly racist?
YES. Provided that the individual is capable of understanding the implications of their actions. If for instance a mentally alert elderly person refused to have care provided in a residential or day care setting by a black member of staff then the Directorate’s policy is clear that the individual will be told that the service will be withdrawn.
