Currently, NPs can pronounce death, but cannot complete the Registration of Death certificate because under the Vital Statistics Act (2006), only the Chief Medical Examiner or a medical practitioner is entitled to complete a Registration of Death certificate. The Vital Statistics Act (2006) further defines medical practitioner as a medical practitioner registered under the Medical Act, meaning physicians only.
