Can an NP discharge a patient from an outpatient clinic?

0

When a patient has not been admitted to a hospital through an ER (e.g., a patient comes for assessment at an outpatient clinic), and the registration process is not directly connected to the admissions process of a DHA, the NP or RN can authorize the ‘discharge’ of the patient from a clinic as the patient was never really ‘admitted’ in the first place. In these situations, a patient would not be deemed to be admitted until such time as the NP refers the patient to an emergency room of a DHA for admission.
