Can an NP complete a drivers Medical Examination Report for the Registry of Motor Vehicles?

0

The Registry of Motor Vehicles sometimes require medical health assessments be completed prior to obtaining a drivers license (e.g., when a person is applying for a certain class of drivers license or when a drivers status needs to be reviewed for a previous identified medical condition that affects driving. Currently, an NP cannot complete any medical health assessments to be submitted to the Registry of Motor Vehicles because the Motor Vehicle Act states that the form must be completed by a qualified medical practitioner who has recently attended the person and is familiar with their medical history. Qualified medical practitioner is further defined as a medical practitioner as defined in the Medical Act, of which NPs are not.
