Can an MIA member provide company secretarial services?
A member of MIA, may render company secretarial services pursuant to Section 139A of the Companies Act, 1965 and he may quote his MIA membership number whenever he signs as a company secretary. Once appointed, he shall be deemed to be an officer of the company and shall be liable to all the statutory and non-statutory duties imposed upon a company secretary under the present legal framework. And being a member of MIA, he shall carry out his professional duties diligently and in the manner consistent with the good reputation of the profession and the Institute pursuant to the provisions of the Institutes By-Laws (On Professional Ethics, Conduct and Practice) [Issued January 2007].
